Re: The smart ant's and flea's
Change of plan we are coming to the ant freeze.
The 3d printer is up and running now, are 1st test piece came out perfectly, so we are now going to start doing a lot of 3d printing. Thanks to pete we are now going to start moulding are own tyres and 3d printing the wheels and moulds
I have ideas of a 3d printed mean metal disk (get it mean garden pot, mean metal disk) that's going to be a walker probably.
we are also getting the parts to make a nano.
so with lots of robots in the pipe line 2015 will be the year of 3d printed robots for us but none of them will be ready before ant freeze but they should be ready for aws 46

Awesome; can't wait to see you there!
Re: The smart ant's and flea's
nano parts, the silicone for the tyres and some new 2 cell lipos, as the ones we got before only had the balance plug and not the discharge plug, are all ordered
now just need to check all the existing robots are working

Re: The smart ant's and flea's
what battery did you use for your nanoweight? i just brought a single lipo cell from hobbyking and then soldered a two pin servo plug to it as a charge lead.

Re: The smart ant's and flea's
we haven't made the nano we have just ordered the parts
we will use a deltang receiver
these motors http://www.aliexpress.com/item/10pcs-DC ... 11529.html
and this battery http://hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__ ... ouse_.html as you can see that's a pack of 10 so should last us awhile
I can't find the servo we will use
if you guys want to get the pololu gear motors really cheep take a look at this http://www.aliexpress.com/item/N20-DC-G ... 08477.html yes that's 10 for the price of 2 from tecnobots

Re: The smart ant's and flea's
I can't decide whether to make a undercuter or a vertical spinner
so I decided to let you choose what kills you at the next event
what would you prefer and any tips on how to make a good one?

Re: The smart ant's and flea's
I prefer undercutters to verticals solely because there are more verticals out there (says the guy with two verticals.. ). Generally speaking, verticals are better for throwing robots, undercutters are better for smashing them up... They're both pretty stable designs if you can get the blade balanced, though in theory verticals don't throw themselves around as much.
What sort of blade do you have?

if you go for a verticle, make sure the verticle mount for the brushless motor is rigid or you may end up hitting yourself.

Tbh, whatever spinner you go for it needs to be firmly attached to the chassis! :L

Re: The smart ant's and flea's
we are 3d printing the robot and are motor has mounting holes on it so mounting it is not a problem hear is the link http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/stor ... Motor.html
the only reason I was not going to do a undercuter is because I don't want to bend the motor shaft when the blade hits something do you think this would be a problem given the shaft is 3mm thick and well supported by the barings
whit a vertical I could support the other end of the shaft
the disk will be one of will's so it should be balanced.
