Re: AWS 39 - Coventry - November 3rd, 2012

Just found out I have 2 weeks to pack to move house. Based on this and the huge amount of crap I have collected over 37 years I need to have a solid weekend (would like at least a month) of packing.

This means i'll have to miss this weekend much to my annoyance. On the good side the 25' 6" x 17' Timber Workshop at the back of the house should be able to hold a few informal robot gatherings in the New Year once it warms up.

Don't worry Dave I have resurrected your favourite Defiant so you will still be able to boo.
That's a shame Oliver. (how old were you when you started collecting  )

I actually want you to win this time Peter. Just not with Defiant.

Right you lot, I'm leaving for Coventry in a bit, so you all play nice whilst I'm gone, y'here? Travel safe, I'll see you all tomorrow.

The plug situation is a little more dire than I had anticipated. If 3-4 people could bring long (>5m) extension leads/reels, and 3-4 people could bring a plug gang, it would help out immmensly.

Thanks in advance.

After what seems like decades since I have been to a comp, I will be there with a new mantis. Sounds like it is gonna be a good one!

Bit of an oversight here, but is anyone bringing a compressor or large 12v battery that I could use? My current one runs off my car battery, and attempts to run it off a drill battery did not go well. If not, I should be ok, will just have to run to my car between fights.

Signed up with three ants and two fleas for the AWS, and one ant for testing. We've got a long extension lead handy and a shorter one to make it into 7 sockets so we can bring that along (comes in useful at heavyweight events :) )

See you all tomorrow!

Andy managed to appropriate a load of extensions from his work, so I'm not panicking about that anymore.

As discussed previously, I think we will make it so that people can only enter the FWS or the warmup event in the morning, to ensure everything runs smoothly. Due to the larger arena (which looks bloody amazing if I do say so myself), the average length of fights will almost certainly increase, so I'd like to ensure we have as much time as possible for the main competition.

I'll be around at the venue from around 7:30am onwards, although obviously I'm not expecting anyone to arrive quite that early :P. If you need to contact me, my mobile is 07855 451139.

If anyone hasn't signed up yet, please do so tonight so that we can get the sign-ups and tech checks done as quickly and as smoothly as possible in the morning.

See you all tomorrow :D.
