i know what you mean. i love seeing all the interesting mechanism robots but they rarely win. it's sad that inventiveness rarely translates to success. ( obviously we're excluding chomp here. inventive, successful and one of my personal favorites)

There is a huge element of risk in trying untested designs. I never strayed far from standard robots (Kinda accelerant excluded) and generally played it safe as I couldn't afford to spare the parts on experimental robots. These days with my own printer and cheaper parts I'm starting to translate some of my crazier designs into reality :D

i suppose it's case of if you've got the time and money. i'd like to see some more expanders. i might even try it with one of mine. i want something that's actually interesting to watch this time.

A robot being interesting or not doesn't hinge on it using some wacky new technique, mechanism or weapon. Void is just a pusher and a lifter at the end of the day, but its overall shape and design are anything but generic. You can be inventive while still fitting an existing mould.

I have been holding off, but am fairly settled on my team now so may sign them up later today.. I know Alex and Callum still haven't signed up whatever they're bringing either so that's at least 10 ants between us there.. plus whatever Nanos and Fleas materialise as well..
