UK Maker Faire 13/14 March 2010

Post by Orac »

Hi, I gather there were some combat robots at the UK Maker Faire last year, are there any going this year?

We will have a booth this year and are trying to drum up some interest. I will be bringing a humanoid and an LM rover to play with.

Thanks

I was gutted when I saw this event. I really wanted to go, but as Simon implies, it is quite a distance to go.

Perhaps if we can get enough interest then a few of us could travel together next year? I think it would be an event worth visiting and maybe we could even set up a antweight stand?

So many possibilities :p

Sam

I've been to Newcastle last year and I come from the Netherlands. Stop complaining and just go.

It's partially the distance and partially the short notice. If they can announce a date for next year and I can get a couple of months lead, then I'll go for it.

If it's running next year too, then I'd guess it'll still be tied into the Newcastle Science Fest'. I'd doubt they'll move away from the same weekend in March... 13-14 this year, 14-15 last year.

Most science weeks of this size keep their dates consistant, unless there's a big drop in attendance to Maker Faire, it's likely to feature in future years and keep the festival assocation.

Mark it in you calendar and check nearer the time

Colin

OK, it's in my diary.

Do you know who to contact to get a stall?

I don't think they put up the sign-up page until later in the year.

Just putting the finishing touches to my "follow me" rover which will be my shadow for the event. down-side is that I need to stick a big target on my a**e to make it follow me :o
