This looks like an interesting solution to the problem of putting decent bends into polycarbonate:

At ?18 it seems like a bargain. I might just have to try one...

I have for some time had problems soldering minute surface mount devices as the magnifier my ageing eyes need to see them tends to get in the way. I have just ordered a USB microscope camera with 10X to 200X magnification. I will let you know if it is any good see:

Blimey, I'd forgotten about those! Never did get around to buying any though...

I think maybe every possible question has been answered on this forum - if only you can find the right post!

Officially I don't get the USB Microscope camera until my birthday next month but on the pretext that I had to test it worked I was allowed a quick play with it. I must say for the money (?46 including delivery in 7 days) I am quite impressed. It could do with a little higher resolution and maybe a brightness control on the LED's (to turn them down when close to shiney objects) but as you can see from the captured images below it looks ideal for assembly work as it doesn't have to sit between you and the work. When you can blow a single IC upto a 19 inch image checking for alignment and solderbridges should be much easier.

I have been looking to find a easier way to cut 1mm titanium sheet and found this.
http://www.axminster.co.uk/product-Axmi ... -21721.htm
Noticeing they had a branch in High Wycombe I went over armed with various thicknesses of titanium. They were very helpful and unpacked one and fitted the handle and let me try it on 1mm which was thickest I have and it cut it fine. It does tend to curl the bit you are cutting off but is ideal for final trimming so I bought it.
I also got the vice jaw bender that Gary mentioned above and although they have gone up to ?24 they are well worth it.
http://www.axminster.co.uk/product.asp? ... 96&recno=3
It bent some 1.5mm sheet very nicely and I found if I placed the folded aluminium between the die and some 1mm titanium the increase in bend radius ment the titanium didn't fracture but formed a nice right angle.
