<1mm thich lipos.

Post by earthwormjim »

Found these.
Was very tempted.
200mah bendable lipo cells,1.0 x 44 x 61 mm for $10
Sold as samples.
Minimum shipping is $30 though.
I have mailed the owner, who said he agrees that the shipping is silly, but he cant do anything about it. :(
Shame. My finger has been hovering over the checkout button for about 2 weeks now.

I would split the postage if a few more people were interested.
The 65mah ones could be usefull too.

As much as I love technology progression, there are occasions where I stop and think to myself 'That should NOT be possible'.
This is one of those times. To think that that wafer thin object is a usable battery cell is just...just...*insert exploding-brain emoticon here* :o

the problem is all those cells are unsuitable for ants because the mAh rating is terrible, all around the 65mA mark, Ants would be using 100-120 minimum.

The discharge rate on them look pretty poor. The 200mah ones may be ok in something not drawing much current, but the 65mah would be useless for our needs.

Dave, it's not the capacity, but how they handle being discharged. 65mah would be ok if it could comfortably discharge at 15-20C. These batteries can only comfortably discharge at 4C. Look at the graphs (Green Line) for when they are discharged at 10C.

I agree with Jamie, despite the poor performance of them, that's pretty amazing. Can't get my head around a bendable lipo!

Yeah, I can't see it being long before they're beefed up enough to deal with running motors.

To be honest though, I'm still in awe about the current technology in ants. My latest ant I've designed on shapeways is 2.8 x 6.5 x 2.7 cm. And it's only about ~60g, the rest is going be monstrous armour.
