antweightrobots.com

Post by Simon Windisch »

Hi there,

The process of telling lots of new people about antweights made me have an idea.

I thought that what we needed was a really simple website for beginners with an easy url that they could visit to get a first idea of antweights, and then provide lots of links to all our other sites.

So I've forked out $15 for two years of http://antweightrobots.com/ and I'm thinking of putting pages on the site that says

What are they - basics plus pointer to the rules
How much do they cost - basic rundown plus pointers to Pete and Josh's kits
Where can I see one - brief mention of RRC and AWS plus pointer to events part of forum
I'd like to know more - links to everything else.

So, does anyone have any comments on this? I'm hoping to get it ready for Brighton.

Simon

P.S. I'm also plannng on putting some photos of people's robots. I hope this is OK too.

Sounds like a good idea to me. perhaps a mentioning of the wiki also if that goes back online?
Best regards,

Anything that helps people get into Antweights has got to be worth a go. Especially if it has a more of an emphasis on beginners.

OK, I'm on it.

The Wiki would have been good, but as I'm sure you know Leo, it's been a work in progress since Oct 2006.

Josh, and others, just stick your exact links here and I'll add them. Don't worry about the obvious ones like rules etc, I'll include those myself.

The Wiki will be back up in about 2 weeks, I'm working on it as I type :) I'm not using MediaWiki this time, something much simpler so it will work properly and not object to server moves!

Great idea Simon, by the way. I think it will be very helpful.

Definitely very good Simon, I think it will be very useful and certainly save a lot of time explaining what Antweights are.

One thing I have just noticed, on the links page under Antweight Sites there is a link labeled Antweights.co.uk, but it goes to Antweight.co.uk. I don't know which it is supposed to go to - Oliver's site or the Wiki but either way either the link or the address is wrong :)
