Looking good, though suffering from the same lack of speed as MiniDozer; ok for nano fights, but just gets left behind if you attempt to cluster it. I'm gonna attempt to rebuild Mini with speed hacked servos to see if I can get some more speed out of it..

I think we need some UV lighting in the arena to show off my glowing tyres.

That does look quite amazing - we should have an entire tournament done under black light, like the bowling and mini golf places you can find :) I am slightly worried that only one side seems to be glowing though...

How much run time are you getting out of the 60mah cell with 4wd on grippy wheels?

I was holding a UV LED pointed at just one side with the other side in shadow.
I havent run the 4WD long enough to get an idea of duration I tend not to do much testing once they are running.
That probably explains why I didn't find out that the nano spinner cuts out after about 15 secs of full power until it was in battle at the AWS.
I speant some time yesterday trying to improve it but it was not just the controller the receiver was reseting due to battery voltage drop.
Not sure how I am going to fix that yet.

I used a 130 mah 1 cell on my nano spinner; seems to run fine.

I have replaced the 1mm titanium blade with 0.5 mm titanium and it has improved things but still can't run at full throttle.
Saving about 30% of the spinner weight and less drag has reduced the supply dips but not enough yet.
I have ordered different brushless controller with a stepup 5v regulator plus a seperate step up regulator and a 160mah battery so hopfully between them I should fix the problem.
Not sure if it will still be within the weight limit though.

Just about there now.
I have fitted the new brushless controller with a switch mode regulator which gives a nice constant 5v for the receiver and drive.

This has not only cured the dropout problem but also increased the driving speed.
I have also fitted the160mah battery so with the lighter blade it still comes in at 25.1gms.
It does occasionally have trouble starting the spinner dispite having played with many of the settings so I will probably live with that.
The new 4 wheel drive is finished and ready for the next event and in line with my recent use of longer names it is called n.
No prizes for guessing what it stands for.

I have just been doing a little rework on my 4WD nano 'n'.
Having bought a couple of switch mode BECS when I was trying to sort the spinner I thought I might as well put one in this to up the 3.7 - 4.2v to a constant 5v. This required extending the wheelbase and chassis depth which in turn required bigger wheels but now it has more speed and power.

Having told everyone how cleaver I had been to fix the spinner problem on Billion I was disappointed and not a little embarrassed when it stopped after 20 secs.
It soon became apparent that it was a different fault as the spinner had failed completely.
I stripped it down last night to find that the 0v wire to the brushless controller had broken off so that is also now fixed I wonder how it will fail next time.
On the motor front I have ordered some different 6mm diam motor gearboxes from china.
These have an output speed of 1250rpm so have much shorter gearboxes and are more like those in Alsoran so should be a bit more exciting.

The postage is very high but if you order 10 they come out at £6.50 each which is half what you pay in this country.
