Here are the 4 shuffle plates for want of a better name.
One is sitting on a mold I have printed so I can incorporate soft rubber feet.

Here is the walking action judgeing by the speed there is likely to be a lot of bouncing around.

So far the mechanical parts are coming out a little heavier than I hoped at around 22gms.

Nice :) If you have any spare weight, what are you thinking of using it on?

To be honest I have been so bound up in the design of the walking mechanism I have not thought to hard about the rest.
Originally I was thinking in terms of a vertical spinner as per the old Mutant but I dont think that will fit in the size or weight so for now I will just concentrate on the walking part and see what fits later.

I had mixed results with the molding of the feet.

The feet came out well and provide good grip but I have made them too thick and they have come out at 1 gm each bringing the mechanics to a total of 30gms.
As predicted there is quite a lot of bounce.

brilliant! more weight ought to reduce the bounce problem.

Hehe, this really is turning into a proper engineering challenge to get a nano walker in weight and in the cube! My first design fitted the bill, but was just a bit rubbish  I think if I finish the 3rd version it could work and have weight spare, just the worm gear motors have very little power so it's going to have to be a very free running setup... I may have to look at hacking the motors from the double drive units into the worm drive gearboxes as they seem to have more power...
Its a shame you don't really have room/ weight for an extra leg each side on that design; would make for a very smooth walk.

It bounces around too much to measure but I estimate it is some where between not very much and very little. :P

Moulded 8 new thinner feet and saved 4 gms.
