Slightly off topic - and correct me if I'm wrong - but it looks like the scoop was printed in 3 pieces? What adhesive/solvent do you use to bond the pieces together?

I find with ABS normal plastic cement is the best it basically desolves the surfaces together.
The one I have at the moment is Humbrol Poly Cement.

Finally got back to some robot work although with 32 packs of laminate flooring arriving today it might be short lived.
I have for some time been considering designing a gearbox for the nanos based on the small double motor units I bought some time ago.
Having spoken to the Reading boys last saturday and seeing Will now offerers one on his site I thought I would have a go.
I wanted it still to be a double unit but wider and shorter with an extra gear to slow it a little and give more power.
Here is what I have come up with it is 49mm tip to tip but a wheel should go around the gearbox without increasing the width.
Mind you we now have 60mm to play with and there is always the diagonal.

Yeah, that's pretty much what I'm working on atm, although I would cut that bar at the back down to save weight... The 5 stage boxes are much more torquey and controllable as shown by Fite Me M8; I'm planning to upgrade Chug and 'Moon to them at some point as well... Should have enough torque to move an ant too so could be good for setups where powerful drive isn't a requirement but weight is a premium (eg big spinners )

Made a few tweeks to the gearbox so it could run inside smaller wheels and reprinted in ABS.
Here with the wheels with moulded tyres giving a total width of 49mm.

I have been experiencing some problems with my gearbox design when trying to run on a single cell.
The friction mainly from the output drive gear running in a 3D printed hole was causing intermittent starting.
I have managed to find some small bearings on ebay that are 4mm ID and 7mm OD.http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/350731536566? ... EBIDX%3AIT
This just about fits as with the pitch between the shafts being 4mm and the shaft being 1mm the shaft just goes in although it has to be in contact with the outside of the bearing.
I have now incorporated the gearbox into a chassis in a rebuild of my Lemming which has proved almost uncontrollable in the past.
