Maze Mice

Post by peterwaller »

I attended the Micro Mouse 2007 contest in June with my minisumo's but got a little bit smitten with the micro mouse idea. I am now building a wall follower mouse (Chedderbyte) as an introduction to the far more complex solver mice. The wall followers are put into a maze that the centre can be reached following the left hand wall. Here is a video clip of my efforts so far.

My test maze is only 3 x 6 where as the real ones are 16 x 16 which is almost 4 m x 4 m. Any one interested in learning more about micro mice should see http://www.micromouseonline.com/forum/

Oh that's so cool. Did the light sensors give you much trouble?

The speed that you develop your ants, mazesolvers, pcb's etc. never seizes to amaze me.

Looking very good i must say. Amazing.

Is it immoral to envy another man's robot? :-?

That is very cool Pete - can't wait until I'm retired and can play robots all day!

I don't get to play robots all day I have to stop for tea and meal breaks, play on the PS2, work my way through the box set of 24 and mow the lawns when it stops raining. Also a little matter of a grandaughter that visits about three days a week. She just about takes over the when she arrives at only 4 months old. When she is moving about under her own steam things could get really interesting. Having said all that I really am enjoying my retirement and just don't know how I had time to go to work.
You can envy anything you like except my ass.

Here is the mouse after fixing the batteries and sensors properly underneath and speeding up as far as I can.
