Josh, what makes you think this is a 40Mhz Rx? It doesn't state it and the old Feather was done in 35 and 40.
Last time I tried to get a Feather I was told that Hitec were not going to manufacture any more until Feb this year, but clearly they have just stopped production.
Has any one ever used a drill before (if its new and someone pinches my idea i will kill them .......just kiddin) if not then how would u make them and would they be any good.
In my opinion, the only way to drill effectively into another robot would be to apply a lot of pressure at the same time that you're drilling. In short, I don't think it's an effective idea, but am hoping to be proved wrong.
The only real damage to a properly armoured robot can be caused by a spinner, IMHO, other than that, powerful flippers and fast pushers rule at the moment.
TTT, if you haven't already, I recommend you buy some past AWS DVDs from this very site. Nothing beats experience, but seeing what other people do can also be very useful.
There was an effective drill antweight in America, but they allow a lot more weight than us.
I had a drill-type weapon prototype for one of my bots, but it was an awful failiure
PeteC, that new Hitec isn't actually a 40MHz rx (at least the one i was sent isn't) but i know there is a 40MHz one available (it says on the side of it), and my 35MHz version works fine with 40MHz crystals anyway. It's actually the same weight as a feather and is, in my opinion, far better in terms of failsafe, and general reliability. Plus it survives being hit by Kwijebo, which is a bonus (yes Hib, u did actually hit it at AWS19-lucky beggar!)
At antweight ranges it probably doesn't matter if you run a 35MHz receiver on 40MHz. The receiver is only very broadly tuned until you add the crystal which is what gives the exact tuning.
The tuning of the rest of the circuit does matter if you want good long-range control, e.g for planes or boats, when the signal from the transmitter will be much weaker. At antweight range we have such a strong signal from the transmitter that we can get away with short aerials, bundled-up aerials and even slightly "deaf" receivers.
Hi erm i was thinking of mibay making a full body spinner (or shuffle bot but thats another topic) and was wondering if hs55 servos would do the job??? Also where would i find blades and a sort of flattoped spere thing??
