Bonjour,mes amies. :)
I am looking for small low dropout 6v regulators, but cant find any anywhere. :(
I have tried ebay and maplins without any luck.A link to someone who sells them would be great,or if anyone has some surplus stock they would like to sell me,I would be eternally grateful.
I am looking for anything from 2 to 12.

Are you sure it was an LDO one Haz as I have been looking for one of those for some time.
On Flippant2 I used a 5v one jacked up to 6v.

If you put two resistors in series between the output and ground and arrange the values so the central point is 1 v above ground, then connect the pin on the regulator that nomally goes to gound to the 1 v point instead, the regulator will output 5v above this point which is 6v above ground..

Interesting idea pete, does that affect the current throughput?

Have you looked at the pololu boards?

I think for 6V you will need an adjustable LDO. They typically use a pair of external resistors to set the output voltage, rather than having the resistors built into the IC to give a fixed voltage.

One important thing with LDOs - don't forget the input and (especially) output capacitors. Unlike normal 7805-type regulators, LDOs *need* the capacitors to keep them stable. You also need to use ceramic capacitors - electrolytics won't cut it.

A switched-mode regulator like the Pololu board Andy linked above will give virtually no dropout, but they are usually bigger and more expensive than LDOs. At $10 the Pololu boards aren't cheap if you need a dozen Jim!

I was looking for a decent way to supply power to a servo.from a 2s or even 3s lipo.
It sounds like Andys suggestion may be the best solution for me. Anyone have any other solutions?
Thanks,Jim :)
