I am looking at the small turnigy battery packs from hobbyking for my new bots. Has anyone been able to remove the small bit of plastic at the end and soldered 2/3 together to make a pack?
Also is there another source of these or some other small looking lipo available?

Hi Andrew, are you talking about the nanotech lipos? I asked a similar question in the bottom couple of posts in my thread here: http://www.robotwars101.org/forum/viewt ... 3&start=75
There used to be loads on ebay but looking on there now there only seem to be a few suppliers, and are slightly more expensive than before.

Re: Removing the plastic from the end of single cell lipos
Thanks for the fast response guys. I was hoping to use individual cells in my new design so will give it a go taking the ends off. I have now ordered a few 130 and 180 single cells from 'mini aviation' as they seemed very cheap. If that doesn't work I will look at breaking up the 2 cell packs from hobby king. Two bots to make before the AWS in March...

they are just hot glued on, if you cut off the two smaller faces either side of the pack, carefully with a knife, you can then peel back the two larger faces and pull the cap over the plug. then just pick out the glue that normally isn't stuck very well. only thing to look out for is that the tabs are very fragile so be careful of the connector.

I got some 130mAh single cells from Atomic Workshop to go in RONNY:
http://www.atomicworkshop.co.uk
Although the 130mAh don't seem to be in stock at the mo'
Robotbirds have some tabbed single cells too:

Again it looks like 130mAh are out of stock, but there is 110, 120 etc to choose from.

I got my cells yesterday when I got home from work. Taking the ends off wasn't too bad, I followed Josh's instructions. The hot glue was a bit hit and miss with some held together better than others, but with a little care it is OK to do. The 130mah cells are 34.5mm long, 10.5mm wide and 6.7mm tall (although more D shaped).
