Hmm, a jolly good point :D, To be honest what would you guys recommend me doing instead that would be far more efficient in the space I have?

It being so close to the AWS, I'd probs go back to the old way that you know works for now, and then you'll have a good month or 2 to work on and get the new one right after, rather than rushing and having it fail on Saturday.

So imply connect an elastic band from the mount currently on my flipper straight down to the base of my robot?

That's right. The trick is to make the elastic band long enough in its unstreached state so that it doesn't exert too much force against the servo in the stretched state. If that makes sense?
You need to find an attachment point that gives a (relatively) long unstretched state with a small extension in the extended state.

Thanks for the info old chap, I did it today, it went through around 150 full flips before the band snapped, the problem being the band needs to be very stretched to just keep the flipper down :( which is making my flipper work slower and with less power than it should, I was thinking of making a runner system and seeing if that works but I think its another job for tomorrow :D
