just checking. never understood that stupid rule... tbh, the rules don't take into account Autonomous Trainer bots (which the shell would be for) and seeing as how it's a specialist thing... Vac forming ABS is another option...

Adam, you're right - if it's not competing the rules don't apply. It would probably be a good idea to make the ATB "indestructible" as a feature. After all, you wouldn't want to have to rebuild it after every practice session!

Injection-moulded polypropylene would be good ... might be a problem with the tens of ?1000's tooling cost though... Vac-formed ABS sounds like a good practical solution. Wouldn't mind seeing a one-piece brushed/polished metal body, though - kinda DeLorean style...

well, depending on weight, I'll be entering it in AWS19, but even if it's over, I'll bring it. Mr Y says I can make both shells, so I can just swap em. Gives even more customisability to th thing :)

Does anyone have an idea for some quick and easy armour? I've ordered some polycarb and CF from sozbots, but 3 weeks later and no sign of it. I need a backup for AWS18 just incase. I would normally get some polycarb, but technobots want to charge me ?6 delivery for a 240x240 sheet.

Thanks Craig, but it does need to be done in advance. It's not only armour, it's chassis as well. I'll just have to bite the bullet and get it from technobots.

I use stuff thats just lying around usually, but I guess I am one of the more "bodge" type builders, and you'd be after something a bit more substasial

You could always go retro with the time-honoured art card and gaffa tape look...

You need "mounting board" from an art supplies shop. It's about 1.5mm thick card and great for building all sorts of stuff. And of course, never underestimate the powers of gaffa tape!
It might not stand up to MilitAnt etc, but then neither does 1mm polycarb...

gaffa tape is like a force: it has a light side and a dark side, and it binds the universe together.

Think I'll use that in my sig...

y go for expensive stuff when it does the same thing as cheap stuff?
