so the 'new' DBA a.k.a. Katjuscha should be safe, it's only attached to the front by 2 screws and superglue, with 2 lips going to the back also superglued.

Isn't that going to fall foul of the metal armour rule?

It is armour. If it was removed robots with spinning weapons (or any other type of offensive weaponry) would find it a lot easier to hit your batteries/wheels, therefore it is protecting them to a degree, and therefore it is armour.

Personally I have no trouble with this type of armour, however if the rule from http://windisch.co.uk/robots/provisiona ... 4.0.02.htm saying 'Armour consisting of one continuous metal plate must not protect more than one third of the robot?s perimeter (welded plates will be considered as a continuous metal plate).' was implemented, then that armour would be disallowed, since it definatly encompasses more than one third of the perimeter.

I'm kind of agreeing with what scott says here (I think :-?). It is armour, and if we were sticking firmly to the rules, then it would not be allowed. But I have no problem with it, as I always thought it was a stupid rule anyway.

Than DBA shouldn't be allowed either, same perimeter protection, same amount of Ti. BUT it has been allowed to compete, and succesfully i might add :P
