Ready in plenty of time before the aws.... Vampire.

Specs

84x91x30mm, 148g
NanoTwo with 30:1 500rpm drive motors, Afro 12A powering a LeTodar 2204 2300kv brushless for the weapon.
1.5mm carbon fibre, 1.6mm aluminium angle, 0.75mm polycarb for the chassis and armour. 100mm, 20g, grade 5 titanium bar for the weapon.

It spins up really nicely and it seems I've managed to get the bar well balanced with minimal vibration. Can't wait to let this loose in the arena.

And here's the team ready for next week...

Did a bit of weapon testing, I heard the traditional method was to smash up a can...

Image

I didn't get above 1/4 throttle due to my improvised arena but it certainly did the job. Seemed to be stable when dishing out the hits too, although obviously the can weighs less than an ant so that's won't necessarily be the case next week.

Vampire's now sporting a 130mm diameter asymmetric bar...

Image

The other bar was originally made for a different spinner design so didn't have the long reach that the overhead design allows, I'll probably give both a run out next week to see how they fare.

It's been ages since I last did any ant building but I've finally got the weapon finished for Valkyrie, my new drum spinner...

Image

It's a lump of 7075-T6 aluminium with high tensile M3 bolts for the teeth, and the holes either end mounting onto a pair of small brushless motors. The rest of the bot is going to be pretty similar to Vampire, but with this mounted across the front rather than the big bar.
Making this by hand has taken a rather silly amount of time, but after many hours with hacksaw, file and hand drill, it's done and I can finally get on to the easy part of building the rest of the robot. Hooray!

With Ant Freeze coming up on the horizon I've finally got some more work in on Valkyrie...

Image

Still got to do the electronics and lots of fine tuning and finishing, but at least the chassis is mostly done.

Not much to say other than your thread is fantastic. Those things look terrifying

As I mentioned before your metal work bending is very neat.
I see you have two brush-less motors are you planning on two controllers as I don't think one can drive two motors.

Thanks guys. Yes two controllers is the plan, one definitely wouldn't work for two brushless motors. I've got a couple of Emax Bullet 6A esc's, which I've not tested yet but are very small.
