If you are using servos, you do not need a speed controller. If you are using motors you will need a speed controller. Rubber wheels are a good idea. Ah, so that is the explanation of yours and Flimsies posts only being minutes apart in most cases.
In any case, you need to be more careful when creating spinning disks (I assume it was a disk). Even at this small size they are very dangerous.
