If you're going filament you may need to reinforce the upright sections (the brackets and the back). Printing works by placing layers ontop of each other, however the bond between these layers is much weaker than the plastic itself, so upright bits with only a small area (as seen from above) are vulnerable.

Yeah filament printing (FDM) is how all hobby grade printers and the ones you've probably seen use. Where they have a spool of filament that they melt to make the object.

This is mine which is very typical for a hobby printer. They ALL share this layer weakness but it's by far the cheapest way to print. Just try and imagine the chassis is very fragile and add extra bits of bracing to stop bits that look like they could be snapped off. You'll end up with something robust then. Also on the flipper arm make sure the force of the flipper never crosses a layer. In your case that'd mean printing the flipper arm lying on its side rather than flat.

Shapeways uses laser sintered nylon which is a stronger material and has much less of a layer adhesion issue but costs a lot more.

Focused on the flipper and made a hinge that can be mounted.

I don't just use Maya for CAD, I do animations too https://twitter.com/coolspeedbot/status ... 4474308608

But back to robot building

Are these good to get printed?

Some fun little paw shaped holes in the side panels a substitute to not having ears on the bot.

Playing a fun game of weight maths, the new base with the diagonal section as saved 4 grams be not using a separate plate to mount the motors to the robot maybe some more by not having a right angle at the back.
