Hello Folks! It has been so very long since I frequented this forum (6 years to be exact), and it is brilliant to see it still thriving! After watching the new episode of Robot Wars (What a corker of a show! Definitely a new Hypnodisc on the uprising there!!!) I remembered my little robot Ants-Stare sitting on the shelf.... Dug out her little lipos and had a play, she still works like the day she went to the AWS in Richmond! Now with a few friends into the RC drift scene, including myself with planes and heli's included. I am itching to get back into the frey along with one of them being very excited to join me. Would anyone happen to know of any events going on in the localised South East area i.e. London, Colchester, Southend locale that I can enter?
Thanks for reading
Bentley
*Edit* as an added note, could I enquire for your opinions please. I am aware the electronics industry manufacturing motors and other tiny components has evolved over the past 6 years. I am currently running a Hitec HS82 MG servo for the flipper, however my guess is that there are far more suitable, faster and more torquey servos and motors out there now that will almost render this bots flipper non-competitive. What would you all suggest I be running to improve it?

Hiya Bentley, I remember you well To be honest a Park HPXF will probably still be fine; although servos have advanced it's not really by enough to render anything uncompetitive, the real changes have been with electronics and spinner motors which are a lot smaller and scarier (respectively) now. I think you'd still have half a chance with Antsstare but I'd worry more about the armour than the flipper!

Hiya Joey! I remember you very well as well! Funny how 6 years doesn't change anything haha. Interesting comment about the armour, she is currently running 1.5mm polycarb, would that need to be upgraded? are there any rule changed in regards to weight and dimensions? I noticed a few people posting about the rules needing an update to allow for the discrepancies that have become the norm....

A HS82MG is still a decent servo but this is the new king: http://www.hobbyking.co.uk/hobbyking/st ... c_21g.html
Run it directly off a 2S LiPo and it's a very powerful servo. Gearmotors are still basically the same but I have noticed a trend in robots getting slightly faster all the time.
