Re: moulding tyres?
we have just started this as well
firstly you need a 3d printer then get some cading software like google sketch up
then you can get some files off peat waller as a good starting Pont. or you can arks me for some other sizes that I have made. then you need the silicon there are different hardness scales we went for this http://www.benam.co.uk/products/silicon ... agon-skin/ in a 10A slow
but if you want something softer go for some of this http://www.benam.co.uk/products/silicon ... n/ecoflex/ the 10A is about a 00-55
then we went for some dies are other wise it is clearish http://www.benam.co.uk/products/silicon ... te-9-pack/
hope this helps

Re: moulding tyres?
i don't have a 3D printer. if i got someone to 3D print a mould for me, would it be a case of just pouring the silicon into the mould and letting it dry?

Re: moulding tyres?
Pretty much, but you'd still need a source of hubs...

Re: moulding tyres?
i would probably just glue them to pololu hubs.

Re: moulding tyres?
Just a warning the silicone I used did not get along nicely with superglue.

Re: moulding tyres?
If you can find a glue that can successfully glue silicone rubber to anything else you are doing better then me.
The best I have come up with was from the suppliers of the rubber and thats not great and at about £12 for a small tube it is expensive.
The best ways to hold the tyres on is either to mold them to one size and the stretch them onto a bigger wheel as Alex does or to design the wheel so that parts fo it a completely surrounded by the rubber which I like best but you can't easily fit a spare tyre between battles.
