If only I did that before I chopped half the shock bot up to fit big wheels on :-P
Oh well at least my next project needing lots of grip might utilize both these (-:

This is the test video of 'fite me m8' showing the 5 stage units these are based off of. I'm making a 4WD flea to further demonstrate their effectiveness :)

Yeah they would be a pretty nice upgrade, loads more grip from these!

Do you have any dimensions handy for those drive units Alex?

I've RC'd a Confused.com Brian toy with a couple of speed hacked SG90 servos for drive, but because it's quite a top heavy model, I have the dual rates set at 10-15% and, as a result, it has next to no torque. The base unit is quite small and even with the two servos back to back, I had to butcher the side panels slightly to give clearance for the wheels (which also had to be shaved down). Thinking these drive units could be a good alternative if the size is right, as they seem to have sufficient grunt...

Sorry for the delay, I was away over the weekend.

The dimensions are: 22mm long (excluding output shaft), 19.2mm wide and 9mm tall. It is smaller than an SG90, shorter by 5mm.

I'll see how they measure up the next time I'm home and have Brian handy, but sounds good. Thanks for the reply.

Changed the thread on the 22mm, should be better now plus a looks better!

I have 22mm neoprene wheels for my nano gearboxes all ready to go. Silicone ones are setting in their moulds now so I'll update on these tomorrow.

Btw, If you want to run these drive units on 2 cell and don't have a TX with travel adjust, I can do a software change on my ESCs to limit the voltage the motor sees to be the same as a 1 cell lipo, which means you can run weapons on 2 cell without worrying that your drive is going to burn out. Just let me know you're planning to use these motors when ordering and I'll change the software appropriately.

I think that might apply to me as I am looking at a 2/4 of these motors for my spinner and the more power sent to big sharp thing is all the better-maybe the motors should become a option for you kit as I am also scared of screwing up soldering the motors on.

Honestly it's quite hard to screw up soldering that badly - it is one of those things where practice and patience really does make perfect, and even me with my dangerous blend of no coordination and utter incompetence can solder to circuit boards without damaging any. Just be sensible :)

(also with the motors having leads pre-attached, the worst you can do is solder the motor on backwards, in which case you sigh melodramatically, unsolder the leads and swap them around)
