Matthew, I think you've got one of my kits (ie from this site) I which case the servos are mg90s and not really great for speed hacking. The gear motor version of the kit I sell these days use 30:1 motors (440rpm) which are pretty fast with the 4.8v battery I supply but really to get speed you need to up the voltage and start getting into lipo cells - all gets a bit more complex.

I use controller boards our of standard servos (es3001 is a good cheap one) which are fine if you don't mind replacing the pot. You do need to do a bit of soldering.

Also, the correct spelling of Lightning might be good...unless its a pun, like its lighter than another Spark...in fact, if it is a pun, that's very good!

Hi guys i'm back!
If you can't tell I've been quite busy with school work and have had a distinct lack of money so that's why basically progress stopped.
Anyway, Now is the Christmas holidays so i have time on my hands. Also Christmas and birthday money combined mean I have a significant amount of money ( somewhere around £350). I think i have all the parts needed except i couldn't find the battery pack and still haven't found an esc. Any suggestions on Batteries or escs?

Thanks Matt

Rory's nanotwo kits ( the one in haz's 2nd link ) make awesome speed controllers and you can buy it as a complete setup only excluding battery and switch. it's deffinitely your best bet in terms of price, weight, size and ease of use. will you be at antfreeze in nuneaton this year?
