As with almost all chinese imports, the price on the package just happens to be below the VAT limit :P

Just been caught by import duty (VAT)

Had a HobbyKing order with a back order item
Removed that item after a couple of weeks and order a day later moved to dispatched
About 3 weeks after that a card through the door telling me I owed VAT and there was an 8 pound admin fee :(

Looks like the dispatch label had the "true" value printed on it
Not sure if I missed "set your own value" in removing the backorder item or whether it was never offered
Anyhow be vigilant ;)
I started out with nothing and still have most of it left

I still haven't received my order from Hobbyking and am now in the "give us 30 days to trace the order before we refund you" part of proceedings. Wont be ordering from them again, heard of this happen far too often.

I need some new LIPOs, but have been putting off my HK order having heard that it's being useless lately... any other good sources of small lipos?

I have some nine eagles lipo s and battery sockets which I used on some test bots and on DELLApidated bANTry I have 2 single cell 260mah batteries from hobbyking in series cost 55p each. The socket was the costly bit, but handy to fit in the batteries into tight places.
Some projects done: Wirelessly controlled mechanical hand/arm
Heavyweight: Short Circuit
Antweight robot : Locking wheel nuts, dell-apidated bANTtry...
Featherweight : Wanna Choppa, CASPer

Been a whole week now since last building a robot, so thought I'd rectify that...

Introducing Decipede:

Image

"Because 4 wheels are just lame..."

It's a beetleweight (couldn't fit it in 4 inches..), and it has a lot of pushing power when loaded up to 1.4 kg.
Partly built to test my N2xV controllers (it uses a single N2LV), and partly because my latest batch of 10 motors arrived and I thought it would be awesome :L

This is more of a 'Concept' robot than anything else, as it's gonna be dismantled shortly as these are actually all parts for my kits. It shows that antweight motors can work quite well in a beetleweight, but you may just need a lot of them :L

I was gonna do a serious video, but here's a video of it chasing a puppy instead... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YxuIgGrL9Jo

EDIT: Silipede would also be an appropriate name..

Just a 'little' project I have on the go at the moment:

Image

it's an 8g micro spinner, destin for the front end of one of my fleaweight cluster bots (more on that next weekend hopefully). More dangerous to fingers than anything else, but might give someone's tires a hard time :L
