It's called Haggis as when I was a kid, I used to be told that a haggis was a little creature which, among other things, had one leg smaller than the other.
Och aye laddy, that be true.
Wee haggises love to run around the hills and glens here in bonny Scotland. They're blessed with longer legs on one side to aid them when running around steep hills and munros, allowing them great speed without compromising balance.

From Wikipedia:
According to some sources, the wild haggis's left and right legs are of different lengths (cf. Sidehill gouger or Dahu), allowing it to run quickly around the steep mountains and hillsides which make up its natural habitat, but only in one direction.[2][4] It is further claimed that there are two varieties of haggis, one with longer left legs and the other with longer right legs. The former variety can run clockwise around a mountain (as seen from above) while the latter can run anticlockwise.[5] The two varieties coexist peacefully but are unable to interbreed in the wild because in order for the male of one variety to mate with a female of the other, he must turn to face in the same direction as his intended mate, causing him to lose his balance before he can mount her. As a result of this difficulty, differences in leg length among the haggis population are accentuated.[2]

P.S. Love the ingenuity of it :)

That is genius! :) I really like that idea.

As for the motors, I've never found them to be underpowered. I've got 4 of them in Inversion and it can push my beetleweight around.

Love it, I was sidetracked by the Haggis legs earlier and have just seen the robot. I agree sheer genius.
I`ve often considered using a track and a wheel but that is much better.

Just checked, they're on offer atm at £18.90 for 10 :P

Btw, are you allowed more than two robots in a cluster as long as they all fit in the size and weight limits? Haggis is 70g, and smidge is 5g, so I can either do a 2 robot flea cluster, or a 3 robot ant cluster..

There is no limit to the number of robots in a cluster.
Do you have a link for the 10 for £18.90 offer.

I posted a link under Resource Websites ages ago, but got no replies.

This is the link to the cheap ones:

This is a link to the one's I normally get:
http://www.aliexpress.com/item/N20-DC-G ... 08477.html
Slightly more expensive, but they have sold more and have slightly better reviews. I've bought 30 of these so far, and am yet to have one die. (unlike ebay motors where I had one die after 5 mins -.- )
You can ask for a mixed order as long as it adds up to a multiple of 10, eg 6 x 50:1 and 4 x 30:1

Those look good, 3 dollars per motor, I must admit my cheaper eBay motors have had some failures, and mine haven't been in a fight yet...

Be interesting how they price the package with regards to importing...
Some projects done: Wirelessly controlled mechanical hand/arm
Heavyweight: Short Circuit
Antweight robot : Locking wheel nuts, dell-apidated bANTtry...
Featherweight : Wanna Choppa, CASPer
