Paddywil's build diary

Post by Paddywil »

Hi there!

It has been far too long since I last ran an Antweight, and having been persuaded to go to Basingstoke next weekend, I thought it was time to make a return. I just have one teeny tiny hurdle to overcome - I no longer possess an ant, just a pile of bits... So the plan is for this to be a lighting fast design and build. :D Wish me luck! Hopefully will see some of you next week!

Hey Paddy, good to see people returning to the sport :).
What was your previous ant like?

Hi Dave
My previous ant was a wedge shaped pusher, known as RAM... It worked fairly well for me at a few AWS events, but then got broken up for parts to use on another project. This one will probably be something along those lines, but with the addition of a weapon. :D

Well I've made a start :D - produced a basic chassis from Verra board, which should suffice for now. I'll put some photos up later with all the components mocked up... Now time to work out a flipper mechanism!

Time for another update I think!
Although RAM has served me well, hes been stripped for parts to build a pincer/lifter which amazingly appears to be working before my deadline!! Anyway, I'll shortly e uploading a photo, minus the shell which isnt finished yet.. unfortunatly i havent had time to finish the lifting mechanism yet, but thats a project for the next few weeks.

Paddy, if I love you for one thing, its that you've named the new one Tangent and not TangAnt! Thank you so so much. :D
