Re: Peter Wallers Robot Ramblings
Laminate flooring all finished I can now start designing a new robot but not sure what to do yet.
What with the Soapbox machine the arena and flooring it has been around 10 weeks since I started something new.
I hope I remember how.

Re: Peter Wallers Robot Ramblings
I have started looking at redesigning Flippant.
The idea was to make it wider and lower with sloping sides and so far it is working out OK but it is looking a bit like a copy of an earlier versions of Void.
( maybe I am on the right lines )

Re: Peter Wallers Robot Ramblings
It is basically up and running just needs the armour adding, so far it is 121 gms.
It is not the fastest robot but with my reaction times that is probably just as well.
Here it is flipper down.
Here with flipper up it has over 90 degrees of travel on the flipper.
At least with the trademark flippant horns it doesn't look quit so much like a Void clone.

Nice servo Peter. I have a similar looking one, I bet you get a pretty quick flip (for a servo flipper) with that layout?

Re: Peter Wallers Robot Ramblings
Yes they are nice servo's and having two both running on 8.4v gives a good amount of power.
At the moment it is bound to a transmitter without a switch so they are slower on the stick but that will change.
The body is in PLA but it was difficult to glue the horns on so I have redone the flipper and horns in ABS which is much easier.
The accidental two tone colour scheme almost looks designed.

That bot's gonna throw things miles once you get the flip linked to a TX button! look forward to it Is the armour going to extend the flipping arm right down to the ground or are you keeping that lip at the front?

Re: Peter Wallers Robot Ramblings
Although they are fast servo's I have always found it difficult to build a flipper that really throws another ant even with elastic or springs so I am only expecting a quick flipover but selfrighting is also quick. I have just shortened the horns as they were causing problens during the flip.
Haven't quite decided on the armour yet I was proposing to keep the fixed leading edge originally but I need to see which works best.

Are those servos on HK Uk warehouse. I have the bigger brother for my next antweight but those look real nice.

Re: Peter Wallers Robot Ramblings
I don't think Hobby king actually do this modlel I seem to remember buying them from Ebay.
They are EMAX ES9256HV like the ones in the link below but I don't think this is the same seller.
