Re: Earthwormjim's Stuff
As Rory and Alex have said, it a bit quiet around here at the mo.
I don't have much to update on. Here is a pic of the 3d printed steel weapon carrier for my next spinner, code name: Yolandi Vi$$er.
The CAD took into account all the restrictions that shapeways puts onto printing in steel, but the blade holder gaps that were incorporated into the design have come filled in , so I cant fit the blades in. It is a good test for the feel of the robot though, and after driving it around for a bit, It is going to be a bit of an animal!!
I have re designed the head to hold 2mm thick steel teeth now, as sharp blades appear to be a bit of a hassle to work with.
I have also included some fins internal to the dome, that will hopefully produce some degree of downforce, as at the moment, turning left lifts the whole front of the robot off the ground completely! While testing the tail , I snapped it off where the bend is, but not at the welded part, which surprised me! So I need to re-think the tail. I have some 3mm couplers on their way, for me to play with.

LOL. I reckon it would take a long time to clear up all the pieces of both robots after that battle! Sounds like a lot of fun though!Occashokka wrote:I sooo want to build an axe to put in those holes...

That's one heck of a gyro! It almost looks like it's levitating.

Re: Earthwormjim's Stuff
Yep, it sure is! I have to get the disc re-printed, as the blade holders did not print correctly, so I thought I'd try to introduce some downforce.
I dont think the fins in the new design will make a huge difference, but even a small amount of downforce is better than none ( I hope!).
