Re: New Robots- Continued
The new pingu is almost done !! Got my petew controller in the post today so its been driving around for the first time. This is a bit of a step up from my previous tape and hot glue robots, the frame is carbon and the flipper is titanium. Got a 120 mah 2s lipo, petew controller and 2 ebay gear motors, and savox sh-0263MG flipper servo.
Heres some pictures :
I just need to make the sides, and its done. In its current state, with battery and working weapon it weights 117 grams, so its looking pretty good . Im going to have a stab at molding my own side panels, but failing that theyll be TI. Yay for no tape.

Looking very nice that, dude. You've come along an awful lot since the original Pingu (even if I don't agree with your "no tape" philosophy! ). Have you tested self righting? Looks like it can.

Hehe thanks. Although tape has been ommitted, theres plenty of hot glue . Although it looks very generic, i designed it in solidworks first to test the self righting, and it just (literally just) self rights from on its back. Theres no position you can put it in that it cant recover from . I decided that for once, Id try to be mildly competitive. Thanks for the comments .

dave,i like (()), reminds me of that halloween brighton aws. i remember i covered the crazy ridonculous version of mgm in those halloween decorations, shame it didnt spin due to esc failure, the disc was made of 3 layers of 1mm ali hot glued together and wasn't balanced in any way
joey, thats awesome.

Re: New Robots- Continued
Here's my latest one i cooked up for our local public event here in Aus to sort out the wheel-ectomies the old version kept recieving. Keep in mind we dont have a size limit!
Its CNCd from nylon 6, uses two speed hacked metal gear servos with 3d printed wheels + rubber washer tyres and retains the belt drive off the original one if anyone remembers The weapon is also a one tooth styled piece made from an old hardened sawblade instead of the old titanium one. Works much better!
The weapon motor was too underpowered though so I'll be replacing the belt drive setup with a custom brushless motor that mounts straight off the 5mm weapon axle and blade

Very nicely done,sir.
Looks pretty effective too!
How big is it?
Is the other half of the blade thicker? How have you counterbalanced it? (looking for ideas!)
