If all goes to plan the disc should be cut this week- been a bit busy selling the featherweights first but they are all done now :)

Oh man, I did something so stupid it should be in the roboteer fail thread. When putting it together to try and save weight and space, I soldered all the wires to the rx instead of using plugs. May not seem much to many of you, but was quite an achievement to me. To stop my dodgy soldering coming loose, I out glue over the wires.... Anyway, tonight I realised that my failsafe on the spinner is set to 100% throttle! :o

The only way to sort this was by disassembling a large portion of the robot. Cue the unglueing rx from robot, pulling bits of glue from the rx, disconnecting as many wires as I needed, binding by jamming some wires into the appropriate holes, and all told I've wasted about an hour. This has been a valuable lesson!

Anyway, cheers for the kind comments guys. Hopefully this will be the first spinner that scares the opponent more than it scares me!!

Jack, it's a blade I bought from B&Q, 85mm diameter, weight 32g. It's fitted to the motor by a custom hub from shapeways that bolts onto a prop adapter. I've been trying for years to get this disc to fit onto a motor properly, and this is about the best I've done it, but it's still far from perfect, hence the new disc. And yeah, Broken Sword is awesome! I completed Shadow of the Templars recently, but have nearly forgotten all the puzzles from BS2, so may have to play that through again soon!

And Will, cheers for doing this for me.

I've had a bit more of a play with it tonight, been hitting more than coke cans! This was hitting one of my botlets from Warhorses. It's about 73g without the wheels, the disc was on about 30% throttle. Depending on how brave I'm feeling without a fully enclosed arena, I may test it on a 150g ant later this week at a higher throttle.

The white thing you can see on the left of Randar is an on board camera. The footage wasn't too good as it was mounted too far forward.

Rhys, you tested your spinner...on your own robot? lol. Well, that's brave.

Glen, there's some crazy shadow-play going on in that vid! lol. Looked like the spinner was bending at one point. Looks like it could be nasty (even if it is oversized) :P
