Quick preview, I've got access to a 5 axis cnc and as long as I can provide a step by step machining guide to save programming time I have free reign... hence this space ship of a main chassis piece with incorporated cylinder body. most of it will be aluminium and I'm returning to the 20mm bore 4.5kg at tip set up. with an appalling tank ratio it leaves for about 6 good shots before I may as well have had servos.

I've also sourced some 1mm pitch timing belts which should be an improvement on the round belt drive and I plan to have softer double tyres at the front to try and bias the steering further forwards for better handling.

I'm also looking at a design for a drive all day and need to redesign complexity's chassis for the Model World exhibition.

more to come when I've drawn all the brackets and picky details, a lot is to be cnc machined but there are a lot of components that I will machine myself for once!

I'm currently playing with a rendering program called Shaderlight. It works as an add on for Sketchup, there's a 14 day free pro trial. It's quite difficult to get the lighting right and I'm yet to get the metal surfaces to work correctly but here are a few of the examples:

This seems as good as I can manage without drawing out a scenery to sit the robot in. the issue is that the chrome finish only looks chrome when there are things to reflect, so it works in places but not on the top of the flipper. I have tried putting textured roofs above out the picture to reflect but it looks a detailed scenery would be the way to go without editing colours by hand.
