I'm considering an 8wd Big nipper, claws and lifter thing for a drive all day robot, I could do a 4 bar lifter but without pneumatics they don't do a lot as they can't lift high enough to actually turn anything over, although that's because I make my robots very thin, I could make it work in something taller. I have been looking at it for my featherweight though.
Urm good question... 149g all in. I bought some of the rc world valley electronics controllers, they are a lot bigger than I thought so It's going to be a squeeze...

I'm looking forward to seeing it run. Can you reverse the beater when its upside down? Or is it going to launch itself into the floor?

the beater doesn't touch the floor upside down, I could set up a relay to reverse it, Might do If I can be bothered before the weekend, it's quite long and all the weights at the front so it will be hard to flip backwards.

Sounds like a fun challenge that :-)

I didn't mean that the eggbeater would hit the floor upside down, more that you'd plow your opponent into the ground. Could be interesting.

Josh

wondering what 3d package you use and whether you tried any others before settling on that one?

I've tended to stick with google sketchup pro for 3D stuff just because it's so intuitive and simple, I've played with rhino 3D, pro desktop, and solidworks but never really sat down and learned how to use them properly. emachineshop.com has a free 2d CAD program you can download, which can also be used to create 3d parts although it's much less simple than sketchup.
