Probs a good decision really. Its a good machine but I'd like to see its place taken over by a next gen, madder project.

Bad Idea finally happened...

I apologize in advance to anyone who is in anyway involved with this robot, including myself...

Comes in at 151g; not bad considering the whole spinner mechanism weighs ~100g in itself. I can knock a gram off pretty easily.

That looks really capable of causing damage and kind of dangerous.
Can't wait to see it in action hopfully the giro effects may slow down its ability to turn so I don't have to go head to head if I fight it.

i was thinking along the same lines... if i can get hogi round behind it while it's gyroing i might be able to pull of some immensly fluky stunt and beat it :)

The spinner blade is mounted into a single piece of 2mm polycarb with flanged 3mm bearings and circlips to hold it all together, so the blade should at least stay in the robot... whether the robot stays anywhere near the arena is another matter! I'm thinking of fitting much smaller wheels and moving them to the front so that it's a bit more stable; at the moment it falls flat on it's face if I stop too suddenly, which if the disk is spinning at the time will act as a nice auto eject feature  .

If it ever hits another robot I'll be amazed, but tbh, it's gonna be awesome enough just ploughing through Alex's old chassis pile :P

Aftermath of first testing session...

SO MUCH DESTRUCTION :D

I nicked the brushless ESC from Flail Whale to get it going. The blade isn't really balanced enough to go past half throttle, but it doesn't really need to. Very glad I put in the time and effort of the 2mm frame and extra bearings etc; this thing throws itself around a lot but I'm yet to break it. Control is more of a suggestion, but that's still better than what i was expecting :L

Yeah, assuming it's still working by then it will be part of my team :)

Just tried a few drive setups as the original afforded almost zero control. Moved the wheels to the front and swapped them for 16mm ones which made it very controllable but much less damaging.. Boring!
Moved the wheels back again but kept the 16mm hubs on. This setup seems to work pretty well and allows me to tuck the battery away underneath which is nice. Looks pretty mean too :)
