Re: NanoTwo Alternative Wheels

Hex shafts probably won't work, but most wheels with a 3mm bore in my experience come with a grub screw to attach to the shaft (I know, I know, "set screws suck", but I've honestly never had an issue with them even going a year between tightening at times). Failing that, epoxy or superglue...

Re: NanoTwo Alternative Wheels

Those will, they're what the kit wheels are based on :) Other options include Scalextric 3mm axle wheels, Fingertech wheels, or really any wheel with a 3mm bore!

Re: slightly more serious thoughts towards a nano

Those are good, but a little big - on a nano you'll only want three channels at most probably, and it's worth the ~1g weight saving to use the smallest reciever you can (I'd reccommend the R410 but obv that's out of stock :() International warehouse delivery can be anywhere between 1-4 weeks in my e...

Re: Robot Wars TV Series 2016 BBC 2

Makes me tempted to by some lipos for Thunderpants  Do it :D although I think Nuts have lowered the bar considerably for ridiculous teamwear... A thought actually, who else is planning for a second series? It must surely be all but inevitable given the positive reception (assuming the next fiv...

Re: slightly more serious thoughts towards a nano

My approach was to use the DT boards with built in motor drivers ( here ), some 6mm pager gearmotors from eBay (bought so long ago the link doesn't work :(), Micron's tiny single cell LiPos with plugs on ( here ), and a Molex Picoblade connector on some cable to connect them ( here would be one exam...

Re: AWS 50- 23rd July- Basingstoke

The lemon needed to be more practical I think - it had so little weight to it that it wasn't much of an opponent for anything :( I'll have to use all the steel to make up for that...

Re: It has been so long!

Hiya Bentley, I remember you well :) To be honest a Park HPXF will probably still be fine; although servos have advanced it's not really by enough to render anything uncompetitive, the real changes have been with electronics and spinner motors which are a lot smaller and scarier (respectively) now. ...

Re: Antweight Motors

I don't think so - the only things I've seen that do use bigger motors have been either brushless (which needs a specific controller anyway) or the odd machine using standard sized servos, which hasn't been a viable tactic in a while! The 12mm gearbox motors should be as big as you'll ever need to go.

Re: AWS 50- 23rd July- Basingstoke

All safely back in the hotel, it was lovely to see everyone again and especially all the new friendly faces :3 Jigsaw 64 did pretty well, it would've been better if the flipper hadn't come off in the Why Wait fight or I'd had a spare hinge! S. D. F. surprised me too, it made the top 16 (?) again I t...
