Are there any weapon definitions?
Before I try and re-invent the wheel and set about writing up some definitions of what a weapon is classed as (for the next AntFreeze), has it already been done before? I can`t remember seeing anything. Its something I feel would be better open to a discussion and general agreement too if theres any...

Re: Ant Freeze 8
Yes the beginning of Feb looks iffy, I’ve thought that for a while and it’s likely going to get put back. It’s more a case of when to rather than if I think. If people are building robots that are going to be debatable then it’s probably a good idea to get the designation agreed before turning up on...

Re: Ant Freeze 8
That won't fix it. I love the "we allow one bit of each weapon type". That's amazing. It gives people a reason to build axes, spinners, flippers, AND something off the wall (like a grabber). I love it. Then you just gotta go ruin the ride. By forcing these robot categories to only fight t...

Re: Ant Freeze 8
Yes the format remains unchanged. Its not an AWS but its slowly turning into a clone of one which it was never intended to be. I`ve always thought that there would be lower numbers in some of the groups (ie axes) but the plan is to take the final 8 from each group into the mixed finals, if theres on...

Re: Ant Freeze 8
The original idea for freestyle was to encourage originality and new ideas. I’m thinking maybe the freestyle group could allow any weapon type, so if someone had two spinners one could go in the spinner group and the other into freestyle, only one entry per person in each group though.

Re: Ant Freeze 8
[/quote] Hypothetically, would a "active weapons" exception be made for a meltybrain spinner? The ones I`ve seen have teeth or blades making it a type of spinner, or a flail of some sort which would fit in the freestyle. If it was just a smooth body then there wouldnt be much point so I do...

Re: Ant Freeze 8
Sorry I havn`t been on here for a bit, catching up with other stuff. To answer the questions youve all asked so far.... No pushers in an effort to encourage weapon building and also help keep numbers to a workable level. Axes seem to be a neglected weapon of later years but they can be very effectiv...

Ant Freeze 8 - update 28/12/21
Update 28/12/21 Ant Freeze will not go ahead in February 2022. So as not to keep people guessing I’ve made the decision to hold back until later in the year, I think an event needs a good two months from announcement to planned date in order for people to organise properly. (Especially me!) ————- Th...

Re: What transmitters are the favourite now?
Thanks everyone, seems to be unanimous then. Something I did with transmitter sticks previously is put some heat shrink on them. Helps identify them from everyone else’s too. The list is very basic but I’ll post it anyway when I’ve cleaned it up. I agree, it would be great to have something that is ...

Re: Building an arena question
AntFreeze arena is about 1200x750mm floor size, which with the pit in each corner make it just under 1m2. I’ll measure it when I get chance/remember and let you know. I think the poly is 5mm.
