Re: Team Shakey Build Diary

When designing test robot please ignore, did you put the blade in the centre of the robot, so that the two sections where the electronics and battery lay, felt the same centrifugal forces, or does it not matter? I'm afraid I don't understand your question, Do you mean the gyro forces somehow? I put...

Re: Antweight Rules Proposal

As far as I can remember it has always been the case and remains the case that the grabber has won in this scenario as they are the aggressor. Note that a lot of the problems we get with the ruleset are when people go into these wording minutia to try and pull one over or claim a victory against the...

Re: ESC questions & why not USA shipping

Is it common for the esc to get "hot enough to burn"? This was just something in the endbots site and I was curious if this was just common to esc's.. Thank you! All electronics produces heat as a by-product, power electronics especially so. It isn't uncommon at all for ESCs to heat up an...

Re: Some driving questions

Also, Betsie's "super clever" control system (which uses gyroscopic stabilisation) causes it to drive like a pile of dog poo. I have tried many changes to the control software to improve it, but I've never got it to be very usable. I'm beginning to think that putting more intelligence int...

Re: Some driving questions

With regards to your other questions, it's honestly just practice. Driver skill decides matches way more often than bot design does. Heck, there are some drivers here I'm convinced would be able to beat me at my best using nothing but a half empty tub of Margarine! To add a bit more, it's often why...

Re: Some driving questions

I've read about mixing (either on a chip or on the bot) making all steering (forward, reverse, back, forward) on one stick. I think I have this right. Mixing isn't necessarily moving it all to one stick but simply the act of making one channel a forwards/backwards and another steering (Making those...

Re: Team Shakey Build Diary

I like the sound of that. Can I ask what router you use. Is that something you CAD on sketchup? Thanks https://i.imgur.com/K1QRugy.jpg A super old pic of when I just got it is all I could find, but this is my 3020T CNC router. Served me well for plasticwork though I'm replacing it with a larger Wor...

Re: Team Shakey Build Diary

It's all polycarbonate of normally 1.5mm thick. For cutting I have a small CNC router, so I simply design the plates in CAD with the rest of the bot, program up the machine and it'll cut them out.
