Re: Peter Wallers Robot Ramblings

Aside from using a less effective blade (!) all I can think of is using a more standardised, almost scientific approach - an example I've seen before is what Dale Heatherington did in the States (about halfway down) with a gravity fed test rig and a static spinner rather than a robot. Since the impa...

Re: Dual weapon ant build diary

I think you could probably lose grams out of the side armour with little effect - you can also (from experience) get away with a 120mah battery should you need to. Looking very nice :3

Re: AWS 50- Date TBC- Camberley, Surrey

Anything would be good - the later in the month the better, probably, but any of them'd work :)

Re: June 4 2016 - The Oxford Games, Carterton

For the avoidance of doubt (and because I've just had confirmation) the event is not happening on the originally scheduled date of 4th June. I've amended the first post to reflect this. If it goes ahead, it's now looking like the end of July at the earliest (pending some phone calls being made) - m...

Re: Dual weapon ant build diary

So... I have machined my 4mm carbon fibre into the side plates, and I'm getting the impression there is a bit of glass fibre inside the mix. The fibres were deffinatly White in the centre, luckily I didn't pay for it and it was off cuts from a massive octorotor I machined for a friend, but still......

I'd definitely be interested in one or two, largely because I can never have enough weird speed controllers :) how much would you be looking for for them?

Re: June 4 2016 - The Oxford Games, Carterton

As a heads up to everyone (I've spoken to Dave on the phone, and he will have a word with the venue), it's now looking like it might get put back a few weeks, possibly months, due to some of the concerns raised. Stuff happens, and hopefully this doesn't make anyone want to attend any less :( (also a...

Re: June 4 2016 - The Oxford Games, Carterton

I had a couple of these concerns about the football too, but this is what was decided on - the safety concern is valid though, so after some discussion: ADDITIONAL RULES FOR THE FOOTBALL > The football matches will be held in Dave's football arena (which the older hands amongst us will recognise as ...

Re: Cereal Killer

Aaaah, it'll just be the angles making it look big then. I can't really see the cardboard armour standing up to very much, to be honest, but it's worth a try and it'll keep all the wires inside if nothing else!

Re: June 4 2016 - The Oxford Games, Carterton

The problem is that complicates scoring because then you need to attribute the points from matches to more than one team, and it all gets a little bit confusing :( I see it as a bit like the old Robot Wars format - it encourages people to bring spinners they can actually drive and control as well, r...
