Re: ESC and Micro Motor Question

For some perverse reason it amuses me that you have a power switch as well as each ESC having its own little power switch. My robots go the other way and have no switches at all...I like systems like this though, I think as good as Rory's kits are (and I'm going to be getting more soon!), it's not g...

Re: Bot Building Questions!

Tin snips will do Ti, but I wouldn't honestly reccommend it as the resulting edges are a bit terrible and it ends up bending/warping a little from the cut :( You can probably get a nicer finish by cutting a little oversize and filing to fit though. A Dremel with a grinding disc will do the job quite...

Re: Peter Waller Nano Adventures

Looks very good, especially with the translucent armour :3 To be honest problems with photobucket were what led me to make a 'storage' folder on my web hosting account and link pictures from there instead - less ads, less hassle, but also less bandwidth...

Re: Drones??

I have a suspicion 'annoying and don't do much' might be why Big Robots had rules for a long time banning exposed rotating aerofoils, along with health and safety...I don't see a problem with it, I just don't really see any advantages either.

Re: 20th August 2016 - The Oxford Games, Carterton

Hiya everyone, just a reminder that this is happening (definitely this time, the hall's booked and everything and my train tickets are here!), and the format as designed works better the more people we can sign up so get to it if you haven't already! :) I'm aware Insomnia's the week after for feathe...

Re: Bandit's Bot-Building Blog

ooooh, I love that, the frame/polycarb construction looks really really nice :) it'll be good to see what you have planned after that if this is your first attempt! I would add a metal (Ti?) scoop on the front and maybe bend it around the sides, but it looks pretty good to me. Maybe a bigger battery...

SLIGHT POSTSCRIPT: Browsing Technobots at 3am (as you do) I happened across these, which look quite promising with the ratio and the fact they have a matching wheel (also sold by Technobots). At £22 for a pair with wheels it's relatively expensive, but possibly worth considering?

Re: Knappster's monstrosities!

You may need to swap the left/right motor cables physically (either between motors, or just reversing motor polarity) in combination with servo reversing to get a combination that works - I have that with most transmitters inevitably!

I think a manual pit release or any active hazards is probably a little much XD I would like to see a central pit though, and starting squares - pretty please not red and blue!

Re: Total cost?

When you know nothing, the only way is up :) welcome to the world of antweights! Taking an R/C car apart is of limited use, unless you really do have no prior knowledge of r/c systems at all - it's unlikely any of the parts will be transferable to 150g, assuming (from the forum you've posted in!) th...
