Re: AutoBot

looks pretty good. maybe if i make another antwight scale pcb then ill use that chip but it dose indeed seem difficult to get. but there is a pololu board available with it on.
i would say that the 10V minimum input would mean you have no choice but to use at least 3 cells rather than 2.

Re: AutoBot

we have some of the short range and the 1m range versions of theses. but those 4m range ones look good. currently the plankbot uses 2 of the 1m rage ones at the moment. we use a fpga for the encoders, mostly because the main processor dose not have enough spare io pins that we haven't already used. ...

Re: AutoBot

urrrm oops. kinda forgot to update this page. well we made a prototype on a piece of wood, named plank-bot. put range sensors and neopixels on and got it to drive to stay a set distance from anything in front of it.this worked realy well. next we tried hot air soldering the large motor driver chips ...

Re: Rule Debates

Due to damage being a very obvious thing to judge on, when fights are taken to a judges decision, the spinner shall almost always be awarded the win. i agree. This is why we need official guidance on how to judge fights, preferably not completely on damage and other factors should be considered mor...

Re: Rule Debates

i think the drop off of arenas is fine at the moment, Pete's arena is great in my opinion and don't see a reason for the rules to enforce 1 exact percentage, just say that there has to be some but not all of the arena as drop off. however i do think that there are too many spinners around at the mom...

Re: Mark's Antweight build

realised that the only difference between what you just described and my Smart-board (not the same thing as Autobot) is smaller size and lack of wifi basically.

Re: Mark's Antweight build

the esp 32 is an absolute amazing chip! and yes it dose Bluetooth, WiFi, TX,RX, all at the same time. we use it on our AutoBot board and theirs some decent documentation on how to use it. it can use arduino programming so its very easy for any skill level. its microprocessor is probably capable of t...

Re: BBC robot wars cancelled.??

ive heard its because the last series did worse than the time slot average, but it was slightly later than the series before, so less children still up. and it was up against blue planet so it really didn't have a fair chance.

Re: 3d printing for ant weights

hi i don't have any experience with those 3d printers but i do 3d print pretty much all my robots. using a very expensive 3d printer at my dad's work. advantages of 3d printing extremely creative, as in you can make a robot of any shape you can think of. prototyping, print something, oh no it doesn'...
