Re: AWS 49
I know no one lives really close anymore... The venue is at the school where I work, which I live a five minute drive from :P. I'm happy to sort it out so that someone can host there, but someone else would need to cover the £150 cost and the actual event organisation itself, as I don't have time t...

Re: A boreing question
Thanks for the suggestions; I don't have enough spares of the gears to make a rig like Alex suggested, otherwise that would be a great idea. I do like the collet idea however; I'm going to print some collets that are the perfect size and something to clamp them in. Thanks for the help.

Re: Ant Freeze 3 & Signups - Nuneaton, 23rd Jan 2016
Thanks everyone for a great event! Especially to the Dennys for hosting, to Pete for giving me lifts and giving me a spare battery for Void, and to Alex for letting me use his drill & bits. Also thanks to Rory for splitting Void in two to force me to stop being lazy and design the new one. I thi...

A boreing question
Hi all, I need to bore out the centre of some tiny, tiny gears (around 3-3.5mm diameter) from 1 to 1.5mm, but I can't find any way to hold them securely enough that they don't rotate, but not damage the teeth in the process. Turning down the shaft is another option, but I don't have a lathe, so I'd ...

Re: Ant Freeze 3 & Signups - Nuneaton, 23rd Jan 2016
Last minute emergency; Void's batteries have discharged too much while it's been sitting around and, while it still works, my charger refuses to charge them. Does anyone have a charger which they can force to trickle them back up to an acceptable voltage that I can try tomorrow please?
Re: AWS 49
Just to raise a point, if you have a good venue and are willing to put in the effort to run an event, then do it. It's good to have diversity in the locations where events are held. It's a shame for those who can't attend, but there will be people who would be more likely to attend an event further ...

Re: Ant Freeze 3 & Signups - Nuneaton, 23rd Jan 2016
Thanks for the offer Pete, very kind of you. I can get in at 4 minutes past any hour, so I'm assuming 9:04 would be the most sensible?

Re: Ant Freeze 3 & Signups - Nuneaton, 23rd Jan 2016
I would still consider myself to be on a kind-of-hiatus, but I can't not attend an event when it's this close. I might even see if I can throw the components of my almost-working spinner together onto a simple 3d printed chassis during the week (as it was only the tracked drive that gave me problems...

Re: Melees
I don't think I have any more to add to the subject of what should or shouldn't happen at AWSs - especially as I'm not in competition at the moment - but in response to Dave Weston (and because it may be relevant to further discussions); First of all, melees are unfair. As we saw in some of the figh...

Re: Melees
If I may be more constructive for a second; It seems to me there is no one tournament format that will adequately fit the desires of both people who's main enjoyment comes from fair, balanced competition, and people who's main enjoyment comes through other means (for example, diversity, having as ma...
