Servo grease

Hi everyone. I'm in the process of modding some servos for my first ant and having done some modifications to the gearing I've noticed I've lost the majority of the white grease that was originally on the gears. Just wondering if anyone knows what is commonly used as lubrication. I've read conflicti...

Re: New Roboteer!

Ok great, I think that answers everything for now :) I think I'll avoid the mlp4DSM in that case. Thanks everyone for the help.

Duff - Are there any videos of the ant in your avatar competing? Looks pure evil!

Re: New Roboteer!

Thanks for the help Joey, that all makes sense. I just realised that the part in my question about making sure the servos are connected to the right channels in the RX is a pretty stupid question since you'd obviously still need the mixing element for it to work correctly! (It's been a long day!). I...

Re: New Roboteer!

Thanks for your specific help with this Duff. I still haven't quite decided what I'm going for, my only concern is having to source replacement HK receivers from their international warehouse which I guess would be quite costly even for something so small. I guess I need to sign up and get the quote...

Re: New Roboteer!

Hi Haz, sorry my mistake, I misread the rules thinking that you had to have a power switch, but a removable battery or link is also fine. Still learning the ropes I'm afraid!

Re: New Roboteer!

Thanks again for the help Duff, it's really helpful having guidance on common pitfulls etc to avoid, and will hopefully get me up and running quicker than I was expecting. I guess you're removable link would satisfy the on/off switch criteria in the rules then? I've been thinking about the tx/rx tod...

Re: New Roboteer!

Ok thanks guys, judging by that I'll go for the Futaba or JR styling. Good spot with the adaptor lead Duff, that's what I was looking for, but hadn't scrolled down far enough  I've been thinking about how to charge the battery without having to dismantle everything and fuss about having to unc...

Re: New Roboteer!

Nice to hear of your success with your relatively inexpensive ants Anoptimitprime! Ok so 6V it will be. Unfortunately the 210mAh batteries are out of stock so I'll either wait, find an alternative supplier or buy a couple of the 120mah batteries and charge one while the others in use. Good idea also...

Re: New Roboteer!

Thanks for the encouragement, it's nice to see the sport isn't exclusively dominated by the more expensive high tech robots. I'm definately going to be starting with the servo drives but will see how things pan out. Other than the RC gear, obviously I'm going to be needing some batteries and a charg...

Re: New Roboteer!

Thanks for the links Peter, really useful info that'll come in handy when I find the time to go down the autonomous route! I previously built a micromouse at uni for line following, obstacle avoidance and sumo but unfortunately had so much going on at the time it slipped to the bottom of the pile of...
