Re: Who here is Birmingham based?
From Birmingham too. Got two ants built, mainly working on rebuilding one of them, my grabber Roc, with stronger motors and a better claw and srimech.

Re: Build Diary for a new antweight
I'm having a little ESC trouble. One of my ESCs in Roc burnt out, or there was some kind of issue with it, a week or so back, so I cut it out, and resoldered all of the connections. After all of that, it works fine, however during the testing phase, the signal wire in my other ESC broke off, and the...

Check HobbyKing, they've got some decent Mode 2 transmitters for around £20-£25, receiver included.

Re: Bot Building Questions!
If the Titanium's still an option for you, Id recommend a pair of Stanley Fatmax aviation snips for just over £10 including delivery. They cut 1mm nicely, and in conjunction with a clamp or vice, work effectively as it tends to bend the titanium when cut so with a clamp you can bend it back afterwar...

Re: Build Diary for a new antweight
I just used scissors for the front scoops, it's 1mm so not massively thick. Also bear in mind it bends when cut, and is a little difficult to cut, so you have to get the hammer on it once cut. I had to bend mine some more because of the way my flippers angled, not all of it will touch the floor if i...

Re: Introducing ProtoBot!
Hi, I like the look of your robot, and to answer your questions, as far as I know, as long as the battery can easily be disconnected from the robot, without having to unscrew any panels, then that's all that's necessary, for Most robots. I bought a couple of these essentially http://www.ebay.com/itm...

Re: Build Diary for a new antweight
So Oni II is all finished now. The flipper's a little unreliable, but I've figured out how to make it work as well as it should. There are currently two front flipper blades, a narrow one, and the large front scoop on the robot in the image. I also plan to make a second scoop from titanium, but I th...
