Re: Ant Freeze 7 - 1st Feb 2020 - Hinckley, Leicestershire

I aim to be there! Doubt I'll have any time to work on my bots though, so they'll be in much the same state as AWS60. My brother also aims to be there, and he's hoping to bring a full team!

Re: Noob build questions

For the battery you want a 2s 180mah lipo. Sadly the turnigy ones I used to recommend have been discontinued, however any 2s 180mah lipo will do. You'll also need a lipo charger of course, and a lipo bag / box. (Get a box. It's so worth the extra tenner) ESC: Awescv4 are great from ARC, though a lit...

Re: Antweight Rules Proposal

Not a fan of 2 bots being "the same" battlebots style, and not sure I like the idea of a combat-ready robot being "spares", but I do agree that a bot is defined by the design rather than the specific materials. I disagree for my bots, but only because of how I build them (IE. Cut...

Re: Antweight Rules Proposal

Regarding bot modularity and when is it a different bot - what about spare chassis (EG. Like Cosmic had)?

Re: Antweight Rules Proposal

This is pretty much exactly what I had in mind regarding rule changes for an immobile bot winning a fight. I'm happy with this!

Re: AWS 60 - Headington, Oxford - 30th Nov 2019

Because the rules as I understand them are that if a robot is in the pit, it's eliminated, whereas if a robot is immobile, it needs to be counted out. As over haf of Cosmic Burgervan was still in the arena, the clear common sense winner (you) lost on a Pit technicality. We've had it a few times (tho...

Re: The Hotel Lima, for Ants: A Build Diary

AAH Antlog updated! And I can now see what the fight I'd totally forgotten happened was! I fought Bolt! Which I believe is a shakeybot? Honestly I don't remember that fight AT ALL. I remember there being another fight, but I couldn't remember who it was against. Apparently, Jammin' beat Bolt before ...

Re: The Hotel Lima, for Ants: A Build Diary

Oh, and an update regarding future build plans: I've decided I won't do v2 of any bots. If they get trashed or otherwise retired, well... There are plenty of lines left in the song! (Pushbot doesn't count as I'm not happy with that build yet, so these aren't new versions, they're just prototypes) In...

Re: AWS 60 - Headington, Oxford - 30th Nov 2019

I take partial responsibility for that. I was going to start the count when the other judge looked like he was trying to ask me something, and I too became distracted. It wasn't fair, and at the time I felt as though calling for a restart (As RBMK HAD managed to bounce itself free from the wall and ...
