A vice that screws onto the table is pretty cheap, like £6, I'm buying one. It is possible to bend without one but it's difficult.

In my first attempt at a robot I had the same problem and my answer was to stick an enormous fin on the flipper. As such though, it doesnt entirely fit in the 4 inch cube, so maybe thats not such a good solution haha
