I think there will be several ants at Barnsley, enough for a small competition anyway. I will be taking my 2, Team Toon will take Ant & Dec, Dave W will have his and several other HW/FW teams now have ants. Who else is going?? Its going to be a busy event for me since I will be taking a heavy, 3...

I use a DX6i in Ant Awe and it works very well although the 2 parts of the rx can be annoying. I run the engineering club at school and we have 10 DX5e sets for the robots and they all work really well, I will be using them in my two new machines (Ice and Tidal Wave 3). They seem like good value for...

Actually I think that axes have a better chance of damaging thin metal than thick plastic, I know for a fact that the axe on Baby Hell has dented the 0.5mm aluminium on Ant and Dec, as far as I am aware, it hasn't done any damage to any plastic covered ants (although I may be wrong) As it stands the...

I'm not complaining about the ruling- I now have an excuse to build another ant :) but I was just thinking that if the metal armour rules are discussed in the future, this could be a possible solution. Until then though, i intend to keep Ant Awe for demos at Roaming Robots & Robots Live and buil...

Personally, I don't have a problem with ants being made from billets although it seems from what people have been saying that the main reason for keeping rule k was to stop this.

I have just been re-reading this discussion and one thing occured to me- seeing as the main motivation for keeping rule k was to stop people building ants from metal billets (which is fair enough). Although the ants that started this were made from 0.5mm aluminium sheet- which is just as damageable ...

Well, seeing as I built the ants that started this, here is my view. I only built these ants like this becuase it was the simpliest way for me to get the shapes that I wanted (BTW the aluminium is 0.5mm thick)- I have tried other ways to make ant awe but they were either too heavy or didn't work. Th...
