Re: Dual weapon ant build diary
Been working on weight reduction, but the wiring has gone well, although i have had a faulty switch. Testing it, ive had to jam a screw driver between the terminals, but otherwise ok. To reduce weight i have redesigned the side arms in CF. Looking like daggers i think they are some sort of weapon Bu...

Re: first ant build diary!!!
2 friends who would be interested in building one too? Sounds like you have a great group of friends who would be fun to have mini battles with! You see the likes of my bot and peter wallers bot being discussed in the top newest threads are complex 3d printed designs, but we all started out the same...

Re: Peter Wallers Robot Ramblings
Sounds like it is a potential idea then, we didn't get as far as testing our ceramic screw insert design, but there we go. Perhaps a design would need the screw so that the forces of the plastic ectruding wouldn't push out the tube. I will try and find my old storage from my prev work and upload som...

Re: Dual weapon ant build diary
The servos have arrived! and im quite impressed that they are still 9g even with brass gears! The servos i got were the ones mentioned in a post a few days ago - the Turnigy TGY-50090M look great and have same footprint as the Towerpro, so i should have it fitted soon. The wiring layout is looking g...

Re: Dual weapon ant build diary
I'm going to look at the wiring later today, and looking for suitable place to put a switch. Obviously needs to be away from the edges, the spinning tube and accessible, so am left with the top. Although the header jumper link is a good idea, I can see it being a weak point in a bit the potentially ...

Re: Peter Wallers Robot Ramblings
Yeah, we started looking at the threaded section, but didn't get far, this was in the time J-head hot end came out, and was based on the v3. The screw tread on the tube in ceramic meant that there would have had to be 2 screwing cores in the mould, hence the cost and giving up at that stage. Look fo...

Re: Peter Wallers Robot Ramblings
A few years ago, a collegue and myself designed a ceramic hot end. The best way to produce it would have been to compression mouldy it, and at the time we couldn't cost it out, although I worked for a company that sourced parts from ceramic molders in China. And soon the project went away. The thin ...

Re: Dual weapon ant build diary
Weight reduction on the bar Managed to machine some bigger holes in the bar aswell as reducing the wall thickness and has saved me about 7g I think, it's 15g now without the 6 screws, will have to weigh it with them to get exact weight, but still pretty strong., total weight without armour is 147g s...
