You say you're using the motor to power a claw? What is going to be the transmission method i.e. how are you going to get the movement of the motor to move the claw. Are you going to have the claw connected directly to the motor output shaft or are you using a threaded rod setup? Or something differ...

The best thing to do is to make your robot as compact as possible, but not so much that it's difficult to wire up or maintain. The basic principle I use is to get as much power as possible into as small a space as possible. The smaller your robot, the less surface area there is to attack. A smaller ...

Just realised that the battery pack in mine is a spare I got when I had my Skysport 6 returned from repair. That was back in 2006, and it's been charged a grand total of two/three times since then, so it probably just needs a good cycle :)

I noticed the Giant Cod transmitter seemed a bit battery-hungry but wasn't sure if it was just me. I remember people modifying the DX6 when it first came out so it would last longer on a single charge as it used to gobble up power too. Not sure if something similar can be done with the Giant Cod one...

At my old uni flat, there used to be a fox or two that would occasionally roam the communal gardens at the back. Was quite cool seeing foxes about but I have to ask, has anyone ever heard a fox's cry? (not sure if it's an anguished cry or some other type of cry). It has to be one of the most eerie s...

I've just added up my parts list for the new Drumroll and it comes to just under ?500. That's including A123s, associated charging equipment, Scorpion XL and the materials for the chassis and pulleys etc for the drum. I also allowed ?175 for the cost of the drum construction. It doesn't include the ...

I was at the Centre for Life during the Science Fest last year taking part in the Robo Challenge featherweight championships and had a fantastic time. Unfortunately I was so immersed in the robot combat side of things that I never really ventured far from where we were set up so I didn't realise the...
