Re: Build Diary for a new antweight

I got it down on the previous version, with a couple pieces of polycarb (superglued on, big mistake) it would flip itself back over every time. Unfortunately that doesn't seem to work with the new improved version. I'll have a mess around with it tomorrow.

Re: Build Diary for a new antweight

So after messing with the hinges on the flipper and having to essentially replace all of them, I've made it so the flipper opens more and sort of springs open giving a better flip. I've also added a fin to the top for self righting but I am unable to find a way for the robot to right itself from on ...

Re: Bandit's Bot-Building Blog

Looking very good. The 3D printed chassis framework with the polycarb panels really give it a distinctive look. Flipper works nicely too by the looks of things. Looks pretty sturdy too, and shape reminds me of some of the heavyweights. Any ideas for a name?

Re: Build Diary for a new antweight

So, as I didn't have much going on today until robot wars, I spent most of the day working on rebuilding Oni. I drilled holes into the top panels, and added a couple of hinges, as well as bending the sides of the flipper for strength and to slide it into the hinges. image.jpeg Unfortunately I forgot...

Re: Build Diary for a new antweight

Thank you everyone. I've had quite a lazy week so I've started on rebuilding my first robot. Made a quick mock up out of paper, before cutting it out in polycarb. image.jpeg And I've also bent the chassis with the help of the vice, very handy. image.jpeg I've also drilled some 4mm holes for the whee...

Re: Build Diary for a new antweight

So Roc is done. As you can see it's a little fragile looking, the front is lowered by the piece of flexible plastic, I'm not actually sure what it is it just came from the RW101 ant shop so much appreciation for that. What's also noticeable is the two side fins in order to roll it onto its back so t...

Re: Idiots Guide Needed - ESC, RX & Motors!

Unfortunately that doesn't seem to work with my transmitter. It's still diagonals for straight forwards and reverse.

Re: Idiots Guide Needed - ESC, RX & Motors!

Also, seeing as this is relevant, does the Blade MLP4DSM have built in V Tail mixing? I've tried messing with the trims and things but it just reverses things and no manuals seem to specify. I've got my newest robot all working fine it's just the same problem with the old one in that it needs V Tail...

Re: Build Diary for a new antweight

Just a quick update. Transmitter is on its way, as is receiver, not entirely sure whether they'll work together but it's worth a shot and another receiver shouldn't be too costly. I made another front scoop using the new vice as the first cracked when drilling a couple more holes due to a new additi...

Re: Idiots Guide Needed - ESC, RX & Motors!

Also, something I could ask regarding ESCs, if you have ESCs that feature a BEC, could you just ignore it and connect a battery to the receiver and essentially pretend they're OPTO ESCs, or does it not form a circuit? In which case could you find some way to solder the wires so that it does?
