Re: Calculating Rotational Kinetic Energy?
Looks like you've run the numbers correctly - Vampire's only running a 2300kv motor on a 2s lipo, and the bar is less than half the weight of yours, so the total energy is going to be a fair bit less. I do suspect the real energy will turn out to be less than you've currently calculated though, for ...

Re: Calculating Rotational Kinetic Energy?
It's the same formula, but with mass replaced by "moment of inertia", and speed replaced by angular velocity.... Rotational KE = 1/2 * I * w^2 I = moment of inertia w = angular velocity Angular velocity is measured in radians per second. To convert from rpm, you need to divide by 60 (givin...

Re: Lead Time on NanoTwo LT's
The NanoTwo LT is the newest version, it's a stand-alone dual esc that doesn't come with a built in receiver - you need to add an external one. They've been going up for sale in small batches every few months, the most recent ones went up at the end of September (and somewhat amazingly they didn't a...

Re: GeorgeR's robots
Vampire's not so bad, bolt on some half decent armour and you'll beat it easily.
That said, I'm sure you might be pleased to hear that my next ant is going to have no active weapons of any kind, not even a feather duster!

Re: GeorgeR's robots
You're very welcome. The weight saving may not sound like a lot, but used correctly it can make a big difference. For instance, my first candidate for these is Vampire, saving 2.8g. I'm planning to use this extra weight to lengthen the bar, moving from its current 13cm, 17g weapon to a 15cm 20g one....

Re: GeorgeR's robots
N10 Gear Motors As I mentioned in a previous post I've been looking at some alternative drive motors for my ants, and they've finally arrived. Here's one next to an N20..... https://i.imgur.com/CgYhExUm.jpg The N10 has the same gearbox as our beloved N20, but is fitted with a shorter motor. I picke...

Re: Eddie J - DisinfectANT , Cilit BANG
That is simply the most beautifully complex ant I've ever seen. Really can't wait to see it at an event.

Re: GeorgeR's robots
Cheers, I'm still waiting on the N10s right now. I'll make a post about them once they've arrived and I've had the chance to test them, watch this space!

Re: GeorgeR's robots
A slightly late AWS 59 report! Well, I may no longer be reigning AWS champion, but I certainly had a good and successful time up in Sheffield. RBMK managed a couple of wins, neither particularly impressive, but in an arena that was less kind to spinners than the Dunchurch one it was too easily bundl...

Re: GeorgeR's robots
Cheers, it's done as a toner transfer. You print the name (reversed) using a laser printer, then iron it on to the metal, and finally soak off the paper. I originally learnt the technique as part of producing homemade pcbs, and realised the transfer part of the process (without any etching) would ma...
